Alan Turing

23 June 1912 - 7 June 1954

Alan Mathison Turing was a mathematician, computer scientist and codebreaker. He is often referred to as the "father of modern computing". He helped the British government pioneer the technology to decrypt Nazi Germany's secret communications during World War II. You can find more information about Alan Turing here.

Ada Lovelace

10 December 1815 - 27 November 1852

Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace was an English mathematician and writer, known for her work on Charles Babbage's proposed mechanical general-purpose computer, the Analytical Engine. She was the first to recognise that the machine had applications beyond pure calculation. You can find more information about Ada Lovelace here.

About us

ATAL (Alan Turing and Ada Lovelace) is a computing society that is created to give students the opportunity to work on computing projects to provide students opportunities to showcase what they have learnt from their courses and experience working as a team in projects. Our objective is for members to develop skills used in industry and teach them best industry practices.

    I'm in my second year doing Computer Science. I worked in McLaren for 4 years. I have lived abroad for 16 years. Some countries that I have lived in are Japan, Italy, Poland and Slovakia. I have been rallying since 2022 as a co-driver.

    I am a third-year Computer Science student with hands-on experience as a freelance web developer. My passion for technology drives me forward, constantly fueling my curiosity and professiona growth.

    Nikolay Ninov

    • Treasurer

    I am in my third year doing my PhD in Computer Science - Language Conditioned Robotics. I did my bachelor's in Computer Science and master's in Artificial Intelligence in UWL. I have worked in Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) and I am currently working in a hedge fund (Trium Capital) as a Data Engineer.

    We help members with their personal projects and also form hackathon teams.

    Interview & CV Skills

    We assist members with developing Interviewing and CV skills that are key to succeed in the tech industry.

    Leetcode challenges

    Deep down we all hate Leetcode challenges but we know that all tech roles use them to test interviewees' problem solving skills.

    Events

    We collaborate with UWL Societies and other universities. We also organize museum trips.

    Assignment support

    We offer additional support to members who are struggling with understanding their assignments.
